Video still depicting a sunrise over rocks

Deborah Tchoudjinoff: ‘The City of Gold’, video with sound 3m (mapped to object) sculptural installation, 2m × 4m × 2m. 2025.

GMD Senior Lecturer in Emerging Technology, Deborah Tchoudjinoff, is part of a group exhibition, ‘The Geological Unconscious’, co-curated by Julie F Hill and Susan Eyre, exploring themes of stone consciousness and human-mineral encounters, destabilising assumptions about passive matter and a stable Earth.

Deborah’s video installation takes a speculative look at Earth in the far future where particular minerals are now extinct. Her work considers vast, beyond human, geological timescales where continents have once again become one.

Other participating artists: Julie F Hill, Susan Eyre, Charlie Franklin and Rona Lee.

Hypha Studios, Unit 3, Euston Tower, 286 Euston Road, NW1 3DP
