The Art of Self Promotion

It is the most difficult communication task of all to design something which promotes your own work. However difficult, It is a crucial element in securing a face-to-face interview with a potential employer.
Two students who are just starting their third year out in Industry on the Diploma in Professional Studies have made a good start at it. Tom Baber has recently been mentioned and praised on ‘Its Nice That’ website for his beautifully produced ‘For Hire’ mailer and Peter Roden is prototyping a bespoke bar of high quality typographic chocolate to send to all the designers that he would like to have a conversation with.
They both agree that the design of a self promotional piece should be one of the best designs in a portfolio – a lot hangs on the first impression that it makes.
