Sofia Wang: Post-Grad RCA
Little Angels V9.2: A speculative work portraying a future world through the lens of our pets – dogs.
We caught up with Sofia Wang, who graduated last summer, to find out what she is doing now and her advice for students considering post-graduate study…
After graduating from BA Graphic and Media Design I am now studying MA Information and Experience Design at the Royal College of Art.
My main area of interest is in creating experiences that involve multi-media and interactive participation. In GMD, I have had the opportunity to explore different creative methods such as 3D animation, installation, and creative coding. So to further expand my theoretical knowledge, I decided to study this Masters course by exploring the topic of surveillance capitalism. Inevitably my practice has evolved into a more research-based approach since studying on BA GMD, but of course everyone will experience the course differently.
My advice for current fellow GMD students would be: try out all the facilities and utilise them well! One big thing I miss from being at LCC is how accessible our facilities were and I loved all the helpful technicians.
For people who are thinking of applying for post graduate studies, make sure that you contact students who are studying or have studied the course that you would like to apply for, and it is also a great move to contact tutors/lecturers from that course for further details. And last but not the least, do not leave everything to the last minute!
I hope all the best for you, and maybe see you sometime soon!
