GMD Bursary Beneficiary
'Fantastic Voyage' project
UAL Insights is the University’s outreach programme offering access to colleges for creative activities and pre-university advice. London College of Communication also has a new bursary fund, Hegarty Foundation Bursaries, supported by legendary creative and LCC alumnus, Sir John Hegarty, whose career in the creative advertising industry spans 50 years. Bursaries are awarded each year to 12 undergraduate students who have progressed through the Insights programme, receiving £5,000 payments in their first, second and third year – with students able to spend the money how they see fit.
One of the GMD bursary beneficiaries, Daniyaal Gul, tells us about the difference it has made to him embarking on a new journey in higher education and shares some of his current work:
I’m Daniyaal Gul, a first-year student on the GMD course, and the reason why I decided to study Graphic and Media Design is because I’ve always had an interest in the world of design, whether that be editorial design or visual design. It’s been a push for me towards this career choice as I would love to work within fashion, music or art direction. I also feel that the career I have chosen is extremely broad and I can try many things within It. When receiving this bursary, I decided that I would use it towards helping me buy equipment for my course and even to help me fund trips to museums and any paid-for art shows.
