AI Product Designer

Catching up with alumni from the GMDLCC LinkedIn Group, we asked Nihaal Nazeer – who graduated last summer – to tell us about his current work and his advice for students…
My name is Nihaal and I’m an AI Product Designer at Trivandi, a London-based sports and major events consultancy whose clients include the Olympics, FIFA World Cup, and the Commonwealth Games. On the side, I’m the founder of Stack Design Studio, an independent design practice focused on giving young designers the opportunity to work on real projects with zero commitment. I define myself as a Creative Technologist, though multidisciplinary designer probably comes closer to the truth.
My main focus right now is building products and integrating AI so it does genuinely useful work inside organisations. Not to replace employees, but to make them more efficient. At Trivandi, I am currently building multiple confidential products and speeding up workflows through automations. At Stack, I’m assembling a team of designers and setting up the foundations before going live to clients.
Advice for current GMD students? Focus on building your personal brand through your projects. Your portfolio is the only thing that sets you apart, so make sure it’s distinctly you. Treat AI literacy as a design skill, not a threat. Use it like Photoshop. The designers getting interesting work are the ones who direct these tools, not just use them. Also, university is your time to experiment. I thought I’d end up in UI design. Eight months later I’m building products, creating immersive experiences, and training AI models. Follow what interests you and back yourself”.
